ABSTRACT

Experiential learning based on active methodologies is a relevant strategy for strengthening motivation and academic engagement in higher education; however, there is limited evidence on its impact in contexts applied to entrepreneurship fairs. The general objective of this research was to explore how the active teaching methodology, through the organization of an entrepreneurship fair, contributed to the motivation of Marketing students in the Business Engineering program at the University of Atacama. A descriptive study with a qualitative approach was developed, using focus groups, direct observation, and analysis of documentary information related to academic performance and evaluations as data collection techniques. The research was conducted during the 2025 academic year, integrating theoretical and practical activities of the course. The results show a predominantly negative initial perception of the theoretical subjects, associated with low motivation and little connection to the professional field, while the practical activity was highly valued for its contribution to the development of soft skills and its applicability to the workplace. The incorporation of the entrepreneurship fair significantly increased motivation, improved perceptions of the subject, and facilitated the applied understanding of the content. It is concluded that a balanced integration of theory and practice fosters meaningful learning and enhances students' holistic development, and it is recommended that this methodological approach be extended to other subjects in the university curriculum.
